About NWGHA

 

Anyone is welcome to show at any of our shows. Membership not required; however, if you would like to qualify for state, you will have to become a member of an affiliated saddle club listed below.

Membership

Become a member of an affiliated club: Lost Mountain, Bartow County. NWGHA is a member of the Georgia Federation of Saddle Clubs which hosts the annual state competition of equine athletes and their riders. Each saddle club that is a member of NWGHA is eligible to send participants to the statewide competition.

Club Membership Requirements  (this is for any saddle clubs wishing to join NWGHA)

Each club must be an actively participating member.

  • Annual Membership Fee of $250.00
  • Attend Monthly meetings. Each club must elect a representative to attend each meeting. This representative is responsible for keeping his/her club informed of ongoing event, keeping the clubs certified riders current on all requirements and voting in his/her club’s interest ton issues that arise.
  • Volunteer and support NWGHA at local events and at the State Show.
  • Hosting shows in your area.
  • If you hold a show, the sanctioning for your 1st show is included in the membership. If you hold additional shows, the sanctioning fee is $65 per show. $1 must be paid to NWGHA per entry per NWGHA point class. Although these additional shows are optional, we encourage each club to host at least one per year. This provides income for your club, as well as a variety of show atmosphere for the participants.

Personal Requirements  (this is for riders wanting to qualify for state with NWGHA)

  • Have shown in at least 4 of the 6 qualifying shows.
  • Only top 6 riders (based on points) will qualify.
  • Complete the Certification Form and supply a current copy of a negative Coggins Test on the horses that you will be showing. The form is kept by the Points Keeper in order to maintain your point totals from all of the local shows.
  • Fulfill the volunteer hours as designated by your saddle club per competitor. This includes time at local shows and at the state show.
  • Acquiring State Points is free with the exception of local show class fees, and optional horse/gate/arena charges assessed by each park.
  • Once you qualify for the state show based on your points totals, you will be responsible for the classes that you will show in at the State Show and your stall fees.
  • You are responsible for acquiring lodging of your choice. Limited RV camping is available on site at the Perry Agriculture Center.

Why Join N.W.G.H.A.?

Only organized clubs can join NWGHA. In order to compete, individual riders must be members of a NWGHA club. Member clubs have the opportunity of providing its members with the option of competing at the State level that other clubs cannot offer.

  • Members have a direct link to a state level of competition
  • The club has the option of hosting one or more NWGHA Point shows which can increase revenue and attendance.
  • The club has access to NWGHA equipment should the club not possess its own required props.
  • FUN, FUN, FUN!!!! Barn Parties, being part of a team. Rooting on team mates. Support structure for advice, tips, encouragement, and friends to make the spirit of showing, the best experience possible.
